Military Opportunities for Students
Military Student Ambassador Club
Our Military Student Ambassador Club is available for all 4th-6th grade students at Camarena. There is a small application process for joining the club, but once you are in the club you have a lifetime membership. The Student Ambassador Club meet regularly after-school to brainstorm ideas on how to best welcome our students at school. They are assigned to a buddy classroom around school, where they have the opportunity to dialogue and check-in on fellow military students. The ambassadors also assist in planning out our Military Mingles. We are always accepting applications, so it is never too late to join the club.
Anchored 4 Life
The 2017-18 school year at Camarena wel will feature a new program to assist transitioning students with the sometimes-difficult process of adjusting to a new scholastic and social environment. We have partnered with the U.S. Navy for the Trevor Romain program called Anchored4Life. The program is a comprehensive transition and resiliency training production. The program combines training for leadership within the classrooms, with students selected by their teachers for their communication abilities and demonstrated leadership. Students in 5th and 6th grade have been trained to help other military students at Camarena. The program offers a variety of kits that assist the students in all aspects of adjustment, whether welcoming new students or offering a farewell, as well as deployment, reunification and other activity kits. The curriculum covers topics that all students encounter, such as making friends, bullies, deployment, reintegration, homework, healthy bodies and fear.
