Week of May 28-June 1

It’s seems the year has flown by and the last week of classes for the school year are upon us.  It has been quite an exciting year and there are still a few more events to close out the year.  You will find this week’s events in the snapshot of the week. Don’t forget that there is no school on Monday, May 28 in observation of Memorial Day. We look forward to seeing all our students on Tuesday!

Residency Verification

Our annual proof of residency for returning students  is in full swing and ends on Friday, May 30. All bills used to prove residency must have a due date of May 23rd or later.  Please review the flyer for more information. Please call our office at (619)591-5500 if you have any questions regarding the required information.

Yearbook Sales

We have distributed pre-sale yearbooks last year. If you would still like to purchase a yearbook, you can stop by the front of the school before the start of the day all this week. There are only soft covers still available for purchase.

Hanover Survey

We need your input again please. We hope all parents will participate. Topics on this important survey include school appearance, finances, technology, instruction, as well as attitudes about safety, transportation, climate and communication. Please make every effort to fill out this very important survey. Each year, we analyze the results of the survey. Your opinions count and we will thoughtfully and purposefully take your ideas to make our school a better place for children. The last day to share your input is Thursday, May 31, 2018.

Week of May 21-May 25

End of Year Testing

All of our 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade students have completed the CAASPP testing.  We are very proud of their concentration, focus, and stamina throughout the entire week. Our 5th grade students will be taking the pilot test for the California Science Test on Monday and Tuesday this week. We will continue with make-ups for those who were absent last week and/or need additional time to complete the CAASPP tests.

ELAC Meeting

This Friday, May 25 @ 8:30 a.m. we will be having our last ELAC meeting of the year in our multi-purpose room. Please join us to learn about how to help your child with their learning over the summer. We look forward to seeing you all there!

Thoughtexchange Results

As you are aware, the Camarena community recently took part in an online learning process called Thoughtexchange to help inform our academic priorities. The thoughts and priorities have  been reviewed and now want to share the results with you. You can view the results on the below provided website to learn about the top priorities for Camarena and the top priorities of the District. The information will allow us to make informed decisions regarding .Thank you to all who have contributed to the success of Camarena and District. Your participation in the process was invaluable.

Week of May 14-May 18

CAASPP Continues

Our 4th and 6th grade students completed the CAASPP Testing last week.  We will continue with make-ups for those who were absent last week.  This week our 3rd and 5th grade students will complete CAASPP testing. Students will be tested in reading, writing, and math. Please help ensure your children are well rested and eat a nutritious breakfast either at home or at school. Please encourage your children to do their very best! We know they are prepared to show all they know on these important end of year tests!

Military Mingle

Join us this Friday at 7:45 a.m. for our final Military Mingle for the year. The time together will be an opportunity to thank our sixth graders for their commitment to Camarena and enjoy the time together. Please join us this Friday!

Sixth Grade Showcase

Calling all 6th grade parents! On Friday May 18th, 6th grade students and their parents are invited to the MPR and the Media Center to celebrate their best work from the VAPA program. The celebration will take place from 6:30-7:30pm. We will have Mr. Blocker as DJ, and refreshments will be for sale in the lunch area. At 6:45 there will be a drawing for front row seating at 6th Grade Promotion. Tickets will be on sale from 6th grade teachers during this event.  We look forward to seeing you all there!

CAASPP Testing Begins

Our students in 4th and 6th grade begin their CAASPP testing this week and our 3rd and 5th grades students will be testing the week of May 14.  Students will be tested in reading, writing, and math.  Fifth Grade will also be tested in Science on May 21.  Please help ensure your children are well rested and eat a nutritious breakfast either at home or at school. Claim Your Glasses

Do you see your child’s glasses in the picture?  If so, please come to the health office or have your child come to the health office to claim their glasses before May 18th.  Any unclaimed glasses will be donated to the Lions Club to distribute to underserved populations.
