It was another eventful week of learning here at Camarena.  Here are some of the highlights of our week.

Student Council elections were held.  Now that the winners have been chosen I can place my vote for the sign that made  me laugh most.  Cris showed his unique sense of humor with this offering:

Congratulations to all the candidates who ran for office.  Whether selected or not, you have demonstrated leadership, and courage, and our school is better because of your presence.

I also got to observe Ms. Marcial’s students working on rounding and using Total Physical Response to keep those ideas front and center in their brains.

2014-10-15 09.05.27

Mr. Sykes’ students are working on two critical learning skills as they are carefully observing a photograph and collaborating with their peers on their thinking.

2014-10-15 13.59.51

Here is Ms. Robles’ students studying various objects to determine the advantages and disadvantages of bird beaks as they come to understand adaptations in greater depth.  Don’t they look like scientists?

Concordia Church Aims to Serve

The Winding Walk community is fortunate to have Concordia Church as an invested member of our community.  Besides their generous offer of Guitar classes here at Camarena, they are now planning some additions to after school programs in the neighborhood and they would love to get your input.   Here’s a message from their Community Life Coordinator, Melissa Salomon:

Concordia needs your help!  In early 2015 we will begin construction on our new multi-purpose building and want to meet the needs of parents in our community.  Please take one minute and give us your input.
